The Text Editor is found in the following areas:
On the Runbook, Template and Snippet edit panel when accessed from the workspace
On the Create Runbook from a Template modal when triggered from the Templates List
On the Duplicate Runbook modal when triggered from the Templates or Runbooks List
On the Enter New Runbook Details modal when triggered on Merge Runbooks or Templates
When sharing a Multi-runbook dashboard or Single Runbook Dashboard other options are available such as the Alert box, Status Label and the code functionality
All available options
When you use the first context drop down (this is where you see the Normal drop down option in the image below) you have the following options as shown:
When you use these options, if you click Enter for a new line, it will remove the formatting. Use Shift+Enter to add a new line with the same format.
To keep the text, but change the format, open the drop down menu and unselect the current formatting or select a different one. However, when you use the Bulleted and Numbered Lists, you need to click Enter to keep the format.
When you use the Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, Superscript, Subscript, Code, and Status Label options, you should use Clear Formatting to remove the formatting applied.
The Alert box (from inside the Heading dropdown) gives you the following options as shown:
When you click on the Ellipsis (three dots menu) option, you will see the following:
When you click on the Status label (from the Ellipsis menu), you will see the following options:
Bullets and numbered fields
For bulleted and numbered lists, click Enter to add an additional bullet or number. Click Enter again to remove the formatting. Shift+Enter will add a new indent line. At least one empty line is required between bulleted and numbered lists:
Hyperlinks
To add a hyperlink, type in your text and use the hyperlink icon. To remove or edit, click on the hyperlink to trigger the menu.
Tables
To add a table, use the table icon. To edit the table, use the drop down menu (this can be seen underneath the word Table in the image below) when in the table. Column widths are adjusted to text.
Shortcuts
Below is a list of useful shortcuts to apply different formatting options before you start typing text:
Type # followed by a space and the Heading format is applied
Type > followed by a space and the Quote format is applied
Type - for a bulleted list
Type 1 for a numbered list
Auto link detection (see the Hyperlinks section) - while typing, if a url format is detected, followed by space or enter, it will auto-detect and turn it into a live link.
Additional notes:
Pasting from external sources is supported but if the content is formatted, in some cases, it won’t be supported.
Drag and drop images functionality has been removed to meet security standards.
