Automated notifications for runbooks are sent when a runbook is starting in rehearsal or live run, has been paused, is resumed, or is canceled. This includes any ad hoc communications. All notifications are sent via email or SMS. In this article, we'll cover a variety of notification instances and scenarios.
Rehearsal or live run
You can choose to notify users that a runbook has started. To do so, click Notify participants of runbook start? in the Communication Settings section of the start modal. Ensure that communications have been enabled, as illustrated in the image below.
Task start communications
A notification can be sent to inform a user when a predecessor task has been completed and the user's assigned task is ready to begin as a result.
Note:
Automated notifications will be sent to the registered email address the user has on file.
SMS will only be sent if the mobile number associated with the user is correct. To add a mobile number for your profile, read more in the View & Manage Personal Details help center article.
Paused runbook
If communications are enabled, a notification can be sent to users when a runbook is paused. This option is made available after a runbook is paused; to send a notification to users when a runbook is paused, click Notify participants?
Optionally, send a message along with the notification explaining why the runbook has been paused.
Resume a runbook
If communications are enabled, a notification can be sent to users when a runbook has resumed. This option is made available after a runbook is resumed; to send a notification to users when a runbook is resumed, click Notify participants of resume?
Optionally, send a message along with the notification explaining why the runbook has been resumed.
Canceled runbook
If communications are enabled, a notification can be sent to users when a runbook has been canceled. This option is made available after a runbook is canceled; to send a notification to users when a runbook has been canceled, click Notify participants?
Optionally, send a message along with the notification explaining why the run has been canceled.
